Using more than 50% of the stored power in a standard lead-acid battery just once, will damage it. However, LightningVolt™ features LFP battery technology that can withstand deep discharges to as low as 95% over and over again. More Charge Cycles
LightningVolt™ batteries have many more charge cycles, meaning they last 10× longer! A traditional AGM battery can handle 200–400 charge cycles, and usually needs replacing every 1–2 years. A LightningVolt™ battery can handle 2,000 charge cycles at 95% depth of discharge and over 4,000 cycles at 50% depth of discharge. This means that depending on use, LightningVolt™ batteries can last 5–10 years (at minimum, twice as long as traditional alternatives).

APU batteries are designed to be rechargeable, but there is a limit to how many times a battery can be recharged—this is a charge cycle. Idle Reduction Technology
By doubling the power in your sleeper cab, LightningVolt™ batteries can eliminate the need for idling, which reduces fuel costs while preserving the engine and aftertreatment system. Modern trucks with aftertreatment systems, built in line with EPA regulations, are not designed to handle extended low-duty cycles; this is especially true of idling, which is the lowest duty cycle. Idling can cause carbon to build up in the aftertreatment system, leading to clogging, and either more frequent services, or damage to your engine if the blockages aren’t treated.

An APU is an auxiliary power system that fuels electronics and appliances, from your fridge and TV to your laptop and HVAC system. An electric APU is one that runs on batteries not a generator. Load shedding occurs when your electrical demands are higher than the available battery voltage. Your system cuts power to auxiliary components to shed unnecessary load and triggers a beeping alarm to notify the operator (you). Load shedding is designed to ensure your batteries keep just enough reserve capacity to start your engine.
